Franz Lobianco’s work is directed towards the development of regenerative medicine solutions to osteoarthritis. He is a visiting PhD student from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland under Dr. Tom Hodgkinson’s supervision. His project combines melt electrowriting, novel hydrogels and responsive gene therapy circuits to create a composite biomaterial targeting the inflammatory signaling in osteoarthritic cartilage, aiming to regenerate the tissue in an anatomically and physiologically relevant manner.
